In the pursuit of perfect homebrew, failure still makes beer.

Sixpoint Berserker Bock – A whole different monster

Super cool article and video on a new beer from NY’s Sixpoint. They have a series of beers called the “Mad Scientist” series which bend and break the boundaries of ingredients in beer. Their first was called Dr. Klankenstein, which was a spelt wine (twist on a barleywine that uses the spelt grain to make tart dry notes). This one is called Berserker Bock, a homeage to the warrior itself who brewed a high-alcohol, rage-inducing concoction in a “collaboration with the medicine man.”

Berserker Bock apparently recreates the “crazy, foaming at the mouth” effect of naturally added caffeine from the best coffee available in the world today. The mash tactics and vessel engineering that go into this brew are pretty awesome.

I’ll just leave this video here.
